ITR V - Acknowledgement (2012-13)

ITR-V (A.Y. 2012-13) is a Verification and Acknowledgement form for tax payers who do not use digital signature while filing their income tax returns electronically.
Procedure for Acknowledgement:
1) Once a return of income is filed electronically using SAHAJ or SUGAM, on successful submission of the form, ITR-V duly filled is automatically generated. This ITR-V also contains the acknowledgement number of e-filing and the date of filing.
2) The assessee is required to download a copy of this completed form and provide his/ her signature in the space provided. In case the return was prepared by a Tax Return Preparer (TRP), the TRP has to fill in his relevant details and counter sign the form.
3) The assessee should print out two copies of Form ITR-V. One copy of ITR-V, duly signed by the assessee, has to be sent by ordinary post to CPC, Bangalore within 120 days of filing of returns. ITR-V receipt status can be checked online at the efiling website. The other copy is to be retained by the assessee for his record as evidence of filing.
